Is there any reason you never see combos or cabs with a bass speaker and a guitar speaker? They share a hugely overlapping range of frequencies.

Hi, It has been tried before by some mfgs.,for the very reasons you named, use one speaker for the low frequencies and another for the mids and highs.Amplifier mfgs make their money by addressing a specific group,so if they made a amplifier/cabinet that works for the guitarist and the bassist, then they have eliminated two huge cash cows,a big no no in the corporate world. There are some examples where the combination has worked, but mainly in sound reinforcement, Mackie,Peavey have used low freq. and high freq. drivers in their cabinets, with great success. Well,I hope this helps some,it's really, just killing two birds with one stone, and that makes the mfgs. less, thanks. Steve
